No. This will not work directly on a TV. It requires a processor from a PC, laptop, or a handheld gaming PC to run the operating system of the drive. If you have a PC or laptop, you can connect it to your TV via HDMI if you want to play on a bigger screen.
For our RAR PC GAMES, yes it is plug and play.
For our bootable drives (RAR SWITCH, RAR CLASSIC, RAR PLAYBOX, RAR PRO) Technically, yes, because you don’t need to download or install anything—it’s already preconfigured. However, it needs to be booted since the drive has its own operating system (Batocera Linux). Plug, Boot, and Play. RAR Game drives are bootable. It will not plug and play directly on Windows where you can just Alt+Tab. If you want to make your computer a dedicated gaming machine, RAR is perfect.
Yes. First, make sure your computer meets the minimum/recommended PC requirements to run the games.
For our bootable drives, the device needs to be prepared before plugging in RAR. We require disabling Secure Boot in the BIOS so that the PC can detect and access bootable drives, and BitLocker on Windows also needs to be turned off to prevent encryption of the PC.
No, your PC or laptop’s operating system will not be affected. Computers are designed to boot from USB or external drives. Disabling Secure Boot and BitLocker is only done once and does not need to be repeatedly enabled/disabled.
Yes, as long as it’s Intel-based. Our bootable game drives are not compatible with Apple silicon (M1, M2, etc.). Secure Boot needs to be disabled in the Startup Utility, which is only available on Intel-based Macs.
Yes. You just need a docking station to plug in the USB drive. There’s no need to configure Secure Boot since this feature is not enabled on SteamDeck (Linux-based OS)
It depends on the game drive and the emulators. RAR CLASSIC P999 500GB with 22k+ retro/arcade games can run on minimum PC specs (dual-core processor, 4–8GB RAM, integrated graphics card). For emulators like Switch, PS3, Xbox360, higher PC requirements are needed (quad-core processor, 8GB RAM or higher, AMD or Nvidia graphics card compatible with modern Vulkan and OpenGL 4.3 or newer).

No. Our game drives are prebuilt.
Yes. We can also guide you on how to add/remove games, since the drive is bootable and the files are not accessible directly from Windows.
It depends on your PC hardware. Higher specs = better performance, especially for graphics-demanding games. On minimum specs, expect performance issues such as stutters, hiccups, and low frame rates. However, graphics settings can be tweaked in the emulator.
Yes, games have save features depending on the game (auto-save, manual save, etc.).
No. Since the games are emulated, only offline play is available.
Yes. There are multiplayer games categorized into 2-player and 4-player modes in RAR Classic, RAR Switch, RAR PlayBox, and RAR PRO. Up to 8 controllers can be connected, but we recommend using different types of controllers to avoid system confusion or interference.
No, the drive will not work on Switch consoles. It only works on PC, laptop, or a handheld gaming PC.
Yes. The drive can be directly connected to the PC motherboard.
This is case-to-case since the drive cannot be repaired. We also need to consider the cause of failure (human error, physical damage, power surges). If it’s corrupted files or firmware failure, we can troubleshoot and resolve it together.
We make sure all drives are tested and working before shipping. We send a video of the testing and operation of the exact drive. All drives are 100% in health and performance, packed securely in air column wrap, box, and bubble wrap to ensure safe delivery.
Finally, if troubleshooting fails and the drive still doesn’t work or boot, we can offer a replacement or full refund, provided the drive is shipped back to us.
